I participated in this Day in the Life blog event last year and thought it would be interesting to participate again, to see how much things have changed.
I remembered to record my day on Monday, March 21st.
6:30 Alarm, too cold and bed is cozy, so I snoozed. Baby is still asleep THANK GOODNESS!
6:45 OK guess I should get up. 37 degrees? In March? What gives? Get ready and find warmer clothes again. Heat up some breakfast and pour coffee. Thankfully the nanny already let the dogs out and fed them because the other parent came to bring their child over already and our dogs go a bit nuts at the doorbell.
7:15 Wake up the sleeping boy. Thank the universe again that he is sleeping again. Wow, last week was rough. He doesn’t like this idea. It is cold and he is so cuddly. Fight the squirm-monster to change him and dress him. Then try to feed him. Give him his medicine (just a few days left) but thankfully he is so much better now (he was sick all last week) and he’s smiling and eating solids again. Feed him some Kix to stop the complaining. Then feed him scrambled eggs and his milk. Eat my own breakfast. Check email a bit and look at the traffic map.
7:45 Ok running late as usual. Clean up breakfast and give the baby kisses before letting the nanny take over. Put dogs in the kennel. Wave at two little boys squeaking at each other, so cute. My Toddler runs to the garage door to “walk me out” aka block the way. Coax him back into the living room where his toys are. Then say bye-bye love you and go.
8-9:15 Drive to work, yay driving, love it, not. Listen to my audiobook on the way. Get to work a little late but not too bad.
9:15-5:30 Work, work, work. It has been so busy with this GHG reporting project and our looming agency deadline of March 31st. We’ve been staring at data, configuring the database with new variables to be able to calculate and report the required information (because EPA is constantly changing things). We’re getting close, though, maybe we’ll be able to start generating reports tomorrow to review any missing details.
Eat lunch at my desk, check in on social media and return some comments.
It’s so hot at my desk. Cold out, hot in, I just can’t win (the start of a song?). Roll my sleeves up and fuss at myself for wearing a sweater. Haven’t I learned to layer by now?
5:30 yay home time. Drive, drive, drive. Hubby texted me before I left work that he was done for the day (he’s attending JAG school in Virginia currently) and to call him on my drive. So I did. And we chatted about military stuff and future plans and missing each other and all that.
6:45 Got home and got the daily update from the nanny. Then I changed into jeans and took Baby H for a walk around the neighborhood. Yay for the sun still being up. Then we did dinner and ran around the living room and kitchen (well, he did, I sat at the table and ate and watched him be crazy).
9ish We went up to get a fun bath, and the baby splashed and splashed until he got over it. Then he got his jammies on and played in the room a bit, and sniffed some books and did crazy toddler things. Then I sang a lullaby and put him to bed. Then it was my time alone to make my lunch and clean up the kitchen and go get a shower myself. Then bed.
Phew, the busy life of a working mom. Maybe next time I’ll record a weekend day so I can do one of these from the toddler’s perspective.
